Two exciting R&D job opportunities are available in the context of the ERC Advanced Grant HECTOR, entitled “"MICROWAVE-ASSISTED MICRO-REACTORS: DEVELOPMENT OF A HIGHLY EFFICIENT GAS PHASE CONTACTOR WITH DIRECT CATALYST HEATING".
Project description: HECTOR aims to create microwave-absorbing sites in heterogeneous catalytic micro-reactors to enable efficient gas phase catalytic processing at comparatively lower bulk gas phase temperatures.

The Nanoscience Institute of Aragon (http://ina.unizar.es) is committed to performing excellent research on the fundamental and applied aspects of Nanoscience. It offers a highly interdisciplinary research environment, with state of the art synthesis and characterization instruments.
Research profiles sought
Postdoctoral position 1.
The successful candidate will have a Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Physics or Materials Science, and previous experience in one or more of the following fields:
- Synthesis and characterization of microwave-sensitive materials.
- Synthesis and characterization of metal nanoparticles and films
- Design and operation of gas phase catalytic micro-reactors
- Micro-fabrication techniques for micro-reactor design
Postdoctoral position 2.
The successful candidate will have a Ph.D. in Physics, Chemical Engineering or Materials Science, and previous experience in one or more of the following fields:
- Microwave heating of inorganic materials
- Heat transfer dynamics in reaction systems and/or microsystems,
- Mathematical modelling of the heating of microsystems
Conditions
- 2 year initial contract with the possibility of extension for a further 2 years.
- Salary, social security, etc. according to Spanish university standards
- Positions available on March 1st 2011.
